The play-off dates for the Oceania V South America, and Asia V CONCACAF Zones have been announced. The CONCACAF zone fourth placed team, Trinidad and Tobago will face Bahrain from the Asia Zone, and South America’s Uruguay will take on Australia, winner of the Oceania zone.

The first matches are being played on the 12th of November, with the second-leg taking place four days later on the 16th of November, with Trinidad and Tobago and Uruguay hosting the first-legs.

Trinidad and Tobago’s ‘Warriors’ will be hosting Bahrain in the first-leg in the Port of Spain, with the Warriors travelling to Bahrain for the second-leg, to be played four days later in Bahrain’s National stadium in Riffa.

Uruguay, who confirmed fifth-spot in the South America (CONMEBOL), zone with their 1-0 win over Argentina yesterday, will be hosting Australia’s Socceroos, in a rematch of the last World Cup play-offs, which saw the two teams come head-to-head for a place in the World Cup Finals Korea/Japan 2002.

Uruguay emerged as the victors over the two legs, and progressed to the Finals. Australia Coach Guus Hiddink will be desperate to reverse that, and guide Australia to only their second World Cup Finals. The last time was back in 1974, coincidentally the last time the tournament was hosted by Germany, and although they failed to win a game, they didn’t disgrace themselves, drawing with Chile and losing 2-0 and 3-0 to the then East and West Germany respectively.
