With the World Cup 2006 Asian Zone group stages complete, we know who, of the four teams in the Asian zone, has qualified automatically for the World Cup Finals 2006 Germany.

These are:
Japan
Korea Republic
Iran
Saudi Arabia

The two other teams, that have qualified from the group stage for a play-off place for the fifth spot, are Bahrain and Uzbekistan, who recently beat Kuwait to the play-off spot, with a stunning comeback to win, from being two goals down.

Both teams have to play each other in a two-legged play-off, to decide who will go on to play the team that eventually finishes 4th in the CONCACAF Zone qualifiers, also to be decided on the 12th of October.

These play-offs will be played firstly in the Azerbaijani Capital Tashkent on the 3rd of September, with the second leg played in Manama on the 7th of September.

The following play-off, to be played against the fourth placed CONCACAF team will take place at a date yet to be confirmed.
