The German Organising Committee of the 2006 FIFA World Cup announced the availability of extra tickets for the 32 finalists, after some changes on its fans seating plans.

The Committee managed to increase capacity in the venues by nearly 140,000 seats by altering the seating arrangements in the stadiums, therefore increasing the allocation of the seats to the finalists.

The final batch of 300,000 tickets has been heavily oversubscribed, with a ballot revealing the lucky holders.

Vice-president Horst R. Schmidt said that he hoped the increase will be aknowledged by participating nations as a positive gesture, even though it is not enough to cover demand in most nations. England and Holland are the two national teams with the highest demand.

The total number of tickets available for the 64 matches is likely to reach 3,070,000, 140,000 more than originaly thought, according to Schmidt.

The Organising Committee also announced the decrease of tickets allocation to the sponsors of the tournament and the FIFA affiliates, thus making available more tickets for fans.
