West Ham Striker Carlos Tevez Unlikely To Start Against U.S. In Copa America - Barça's Messi & Inter Milan's Crespo Preferred

Argentina striker Carlos Tevez is unlikely to start Argentina's first match in the Copa América against the United States on Thursday, with the West Ham star admitting that "It hurts not to be a starter."

Albiceleste head coach Alfio Basile is remaining tight-lipped on the line-up he will use against the United States in their Group C match on Thursday, but Tevez seems to have resigned himself to only featuring in a substitute role.

"It hurts not to be a starter," said Tevez on Sunday. "But if I'm not playing, I'll always support those who are on the field."

With a wealth of striking talent to choose from, Basile is likely to use Barcelona attacking winger Lionel Messi and Inter Milan striker Hernan Crespo as starters up front against a depleted United States team who are missing a host of experienced players after winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup last weekend.

Argentina and the United States have been drawn in Group C of the Copa América 2007, alongside Paraguay and Colombia.
