Argentina and on-loan West Ham United defender Lionel Scaloni has been called-up by Argentina head coach Jose Pekerman for Argentina’s World Cup warm-up friendly against Croatia in Switzerland on March 1.

27-year-old Scaloni, nicknamed 'The Bull', is a right-back who can also operate in midfield, and recently joined West Ham United from Spanish La Liga side Deportiva La Coruña, and has already impressed since his arrival at Upton Park.

After eight years with the Spanish club, the former Deportivo skipper fell out of favour with new Deportivo manager Joaquin Caparros, and having only made seven league starts, and also appearing eight times as a substitute for Deportivo in the Primera Liga he made his move to the Hammers.

It seems like the move has been immediately rewarded by Pekerman, with Scaloni now likely to earn his second cap for Argentina's 'Albiceleste' in the Croatia friendly.
