England head coach Sven Goran Eriksson has said that Wayne Rooney is “match-fit” for the Group B encounter against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday, but that he is still undecided on playing him.

Eriksson, speaking at a press conference, said he was still undecided on whether he would name Rooney on the substitutes bench for the match, and will decide tomorrow.

“For me Rooney is match fit… but let me sleep on it. I will decide tomorrow morning,” said Eriksson.

“Almost for sure (Rooney is) not starting the match, I don't think he has 90 minutes in him yet.”

Eriksson also confirmed that Manchester United right-back Gary Neville will almost certainly miss the Group B encounter against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

31-year-old Neville pulled-out of training early on Wednesday and was taken to hospital for a scan, with Eriksson saying it was “virtually impossible” for Neville to recover.

Eriksson is now likely to name either Liverpool’s Jamie Carragher, or possibly Owen Hargreaves as his replacement in the starting line-up for the match in Nüremburg on Thursday against Trinidad and Tobago’s Warriors.
