Valencia's Marco Di Vaio Refuses Liverpool Swap Deal With Morientes

Valencia and Italy striker Marco Di Vaio insists he has no intention of joining Liverpool in a swap deal with Spain veteran Fernando Morientes.

The former Juventus and Italy forward, who has been on loan at Monaco, claims the Valencia board have approached him about the prospect of signing for Liverpool in a deal which would take Morientes to the Mestalla.

“They have spoken to me about that proposal,” said Di Vaio.

“Valencia wants Morientes but I don't want to know anything about a possible exchange.

“I'm not going to go where I don't want, more so, if it means that another player joins Valencia. I'm not a parcel, I have a family.”

The former Italy international is looking to secure a permanent move to Monaco, where he was on loan from December until the end of this season.

“I already told (Valencia sporting director Amedeo) Carboni that I will do everything possible to remain at Monaco,” added Di Vaio.

“Monaco is my priority. If that cannot be then I will consider other offers.”

But Di Vaio fears that the Spanish club might put too high a valuation on him, which may put an end to any transfer.

“Although I want to stay at Monaco, I don't think the club will play 6million euros (£4million) for me because I am 30 and that is a large amount of money for them.”

Liverpool had previously said that Morientes was not going to return to Spain this summer, but it looks unlikely that he will be staying another full-season at Anfield.
