Uzbekistan and Bahrain drew 1-1 Today in their rematch of the first leg of the Asian World Cup qualifying play-off. This is the second installment of the first-leg of the World Cup Asia Zone Play-off between Uzbekistan and Bahrain. The first-leg was ordered to be replayed following a serious refereeing error in the Uzbeks 1-0 win in early September.

Talal Yusuf Mohamed opened the scoring for Bahrain in the 16th minute after a solo run down the left flank.

Dynamo Kiev striker Maxim Shatskikh equalized for Uzbekistan just two minutes later, heading in a cross from Alexei Nikolaev on the left.

Uzbekistan won the first leg 1-0 on Sept. 6 but FIFA ordered a replay, ruling that referee Toshimitsu Yoshida made a "technical error'' when he disallowed a penalty scored by Uzbekistan's Server Djeparov because a teammate had encroached into the area. Instead of ordering the penalty be retaken, he incorrectly awarded a free kick to Bahrain.

The second leg will be played in Bahrain on Wednesday.

The winner of the playoff will face the fourth-placed team from CONCACAF in a two-leg playoff to win a spot in next year's finals in Germany.
