Bolton FC's newly signed Mexican International striker, and Mexico's all-time top scorer Jared Borgetti, has been named in Mexico's World Cup Qualifying squad to face the United States in their World Cup CONCACAF zone qualifying match on the 3rd of September. The Mexican team will then play Panama four days later in Mexico City on the 7th. The Bolton striker is likely to start in attack, with either Alberto Medina from Mexican club team Guadalajara, or Francisco Fonseca. Bolstering the midfield will be Gerardo Torrado, the fiery tempered Cruz Azul play-maker who has also been named by Mexico coach Ricardo Lavolpe for the match to be played in Columbus, Ohio, on September the 3rd. FC Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, the only other team member to play outside of Mexico, was also chosen to join up with the squad. Mexico leads the final round of CONCACAF qualifying group stages, with 16 points from their six matches, followed by the United States with 15 points. The top three teams in the six-team group qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany, with the fourth-place team facing the winner of the Asian qualifying zone play-offs, between Uzbekistan and Bahrain for the other spot.
