US Coach Bruce Arena Names Squad To Face Jamaica's Reggae Boyz In Friendly - Roster Includes Players Purely From MLSSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 07/04/2006 - 01:08.
US head coach Bruce Arena has named an 18-man-squad to face Jamaica’s ‘Reggae Boyz’ in a friendly on April 11. The 18-man squad to face Jamaica is made up entirely of players from the MLS, the American football league, with the exception of John O'Brien, who is currently out of contract. D.C. United’s veteran midfielder, Ben Olsen, has yet again been named to join the U.S. squad that will face Jamaica on April 11 and will be hoping to secure a place in Arena’s squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany. “Ben continues to be in great form and we wish him well in the Jamaica friendly,” said DC United’s Technical Director Dave Kasper. Olsen took part in the U.S. Team's January training camp and has made two starts and been used as a substitute three times in the US’s matches in 2006. He scored a goal in America's 4-0 victory over Guatemala on February 19 and adds a wealth of experience to the team. During his career, Olsen has made 32 total appearances for the U.S. first-team, including 10 appearances for the ‘Stars and Stripes’ during the year 2000.
