Update: Guus Hiddink To Leave PSV Eindhoven In Summer Fuelling Speculation On England Or Russia Coaching MoveSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 24/03/2006 - 14:09.
PSV Eindhoven manager Guus Hiddink has confirmed he will be leaving the post with the Dutch Eridivisie side in the summer. The former Kerea Republic head coach, who currently, in addition to coaching PSV, also coaches the Australia Socceroos team, will be leading the Aussies to this summer's World Cup Finals for the first time in 32 years. However, Football Federation Australia has admitted that it is not expected that Hiddink will stay on after the World Cup. The Dutch coach has been linked to the England managers job after Sven Goran Eriksson leaves after the World Cup, and when asked if he had received any job offers, the PSV coach said: "There is nothing concrete yet, let alone anything signed." This is yet again fuelling speculation that the talented coach is set to come to England. On Thursday, Hiddink said he had already decided on his next move. With the Football Association still thought to be compiling a list of contenders to succeed Eriksson, that appeared to rule the Dutchman out of contention for the England post. However, as he announced his PSV exit, Hiddink said he was yet to commit to anything. "I know that there are rumours flying left and right, but we're still in the hatching stage," he said. "I've decided to stop as trainer with PSV at the end of this season, and that's about it. "It's been a good stretch, and at a certain moment it had to end." in favorites | email this page
