Ukraine 4-0 Costa Rica In World Cup Warm-Up International Friendly - Shaktar Dontesk Duo Aid Win

Ukraine have beaten fellow World Cup Finalist’s Costa Rica 4-0 in their international friendly World Cup warm-up match on Sunday.

Serhiy Nazarenko gave the hosts the lead by knocking in a rebound off Costa Rican goalkeeper Wardy Alfaro in the 29th minute.

Shakhtar Donetsk striker Andriy Vorobei and his fellow Donetsk strike-partner Olexiy Belik and Maxim Kalinichenko from Spartak Moscow added the three other goals for Ukraine in their match against fellow finalist’s Costa Rica

Vorobei scored the second goal in the 35th off a pass from Vladyslav Vashchyuk, and Kalinichenko made it 3-0 in the 40th to take Oleg Blokhin’s team into half-time 3-0 up.

Olexiy Belik scored the fourth and final goal in the 56th minute from a pass from Andriy Husin who plays with Krylya Sovietov Samara.

Ukraine played without former AC Milan striker Andriy Shevchenko, who has made his decision to leave the Italian giants, who is out after injuring his knee earlier this month.

Shevchenko is expected to recover in time for Ukraine’s first group match against Spain on June 14.

Before that, the team will play friendlies against Italy, Libya and Luxembourg.

Ukraine have been drawn in Group H at the World Cup alongside Spain, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

Costa Rica have been drawn in Group A alongside the hosts Germany, Poland and Ecuador, and face the Germany in the opening match of the World Cup on June 9 in Munich.
