Ukraine's goalkeeper Olexander Shovkovsky was injured during a friendly clash between his Club, Dynamo Kiev, and FK Moscow.

According to Reuters, Ukraine's keeper "broke his collarbone when he collided with an opponent". His injury will see him out of action for the rest of the season and he is highly likely to miss the World Cup Finals.

The news deals a blow to Ukraine's Coach Oleg Blockhin, who used the 31-years-old international during the European World Cup Qualifiers.

He has 63 caps with Ukraine's national football team, while he played in 18 matches for the team in the past 2 years. Olexander Shovkovsky contributed to Ukraine's first ever qualification in the World Cup Finals, after some impressive performances, including in an away Qualifier against European Champions Greece.

Ukraine are seeded in the second spot of Group F in Germany's World Cup Finals, together with Spain, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia. Spain and Tunisia are strong candidates for the two top spots which lead to the knockout stage, while Saudi Arabia is developing a better squad.
