The German embassy has warned the thousands of Tunisian football fans that hold a World Cup Finals ticket that having a ticket will not guarantee them visas to enter Germany.

The Carthage Eagles fans were given advice on what to do to guarantee entry after the first batch of tickets went on sale to Tunisia fans on Wednesday.

“The best chance of getting a visa is to have documents proving they've a job, travel health insurance and a plane ticket,” Freuden Berg, a German Embassy official said.

“A match ticket does not automatically give people the right to a visa,” added Berg, who is in charge of visas.

"To have a visa, you must go through the normal procedures, to avoid illegal immigration."

According to the BBC website, a policeman - who asked not to be named – has said that it was unlikely that all the Tunisian fans with tickets to the Final’s were authentic football fans and claimed that some of those travelling were hoping for a ticket to a new life and a job in Europe.

Tunisia's will be making their fourth appearance at the World Cup Finals after previously featuring in 1978, 1998 and 2002.

Tunisia have been drawn in Group H in the World Cup Finals, alongside Ukraine, Spain and Saudi Arabia.
