Tunisia Coach Roger Lemerre's Allaedine Yahia Call-Up Gets Turned Down By St Etienne
French Club St Etienne rejected a last minute call-up for defender Alaeddine Yahia from Tunisia's Coach Roger Lemerre, citing FIFA Regulations for international tournaments.
St Etienne rejected the call by saying that they had not been given enough warning to arrange for a replacement for Yahia, while he is playing in the African Cup of Nations.
The Club has already five players who are training with their Squads for the African Nations Cup. Alaeddine Yahia would have been the fifth player, so it was highly unlikely they would agree to release the player.
According to FIFA Regulations on international call-ups, the Clubs must be given a 15 day warning in advance, so they can make arrangements.
The 24-years-old was called as a substitute for Karim Saidi who was injured during training with his Dutch Club Feyenoord, about a week ago.
