Trinidad & Tobago's 'Warriors' Looking To Assure 4th Spot in CONCACAF Zone Qualifiers For Play-Off Spot

Trinidad and Tobago could well be on the way to their first World Cup finals. A victory over Mexico at home on Wednesday will definitely land Trinidad and Tobago CONCACAF's fourth World Cup qualifying spot and earn a play-off spot against the fourth place qualifier in Asia (either Uzbekistan or Bahrain), next month.

T & T’s 'Warriors' kept alive their hopes of reaching the World Cup finals through the play-offs, after Coventry City’s Stern John’s 62nd-minute strike gave Trinidad and Tobago a 1-0 victory in Panama City.

They are now on 10 points in the CONCACAF Zone group, two clear of Guatemala, and in full contention for the fourth-place play-off position against the winner of the Asia play-off between Bahrain and Uzbekistan, which currently stands at 1-1 after the first-leg.

With Mexico, the U.S.A and Costa Rica each now assured of spots in the finals, all that remains to be decided is whether Guatemala or the T&T 'Warriors' will seal the play-off berth against the winner of the Asia Zone games.

Up next for the Guatemalan's, currently on 8 points, is a home tie against Costa Rica on Wednesday. Trinidad and Tobago will host Mexico in this week’s final round of qualifying games.
