Togo & Arsenal Striker 'Sheyi' Adebayor Could Miss Rest of African Nations Cup With Stomach Complaint

Togo's top striker, Emmanuel 'Sheyi' Adebayor, who has recently signed for Arsenal FC, and is away in Egypt playing for Togo in the African Cup of Nations, may miss Togo's remaining matches in Africa's top tournament due to a stomach complaint.

Adebayor was on the original team-sheet for Togo's 2-0 defeat against the Democratic Republic of Congo today, but played no part in the first part of the match, due to a stomach complaint, and was not even sitting on the bench.

But, by the 60th minute, Adebayor had recovered enough to come on as a substitute for fellow striker Adekanmi Olufade.

It became obvious during the match that the African Zone’s top striker was feeling out of sorts, and the normally devastating striker was easily outplayed by the lively Simba's defence, and looked tired.

There are now fears that he will miss Togo's remaining matches in the tournament, with Stephen Keshi's team looking forward to the prospect of playing Cameroon on Wednesday without their most prolific striker.

A loss to Cameroon could see Togo knocked out of the African Cup of Nations in the very earliest stages of the tournament, and would be disastrous for the Sparrowhawks World Cup Finals preparations.

He has no problem with his stomach, he is just stubborn, he does not want to end the strike. Coachi even called him a liar. The government too is to blame with Adebayor all that stupid bonus talk.

He is a complete metalist and will never play for Togo again. His new home is highbury where the reds of arsenal play

Abdebayor is the future of football as we know it. He is a key player for Togo and without him they dont only lack the ability to really score, but the leadership he carries along with him even at his young age.
