Theo Walcott Injured In Training But Expected On Bench V T&T's Warriors - Hints Of Rooney Return

Arsenal's Theo Walcott has suffered a calf injury in training with the England squad in Germany.

The 17-year-old teenage sensation, who was surprisingly called-up by England head coach Sven-Goran Eriksson as one of the 23-players for the Three Lions squad, limped out of training after suffering a kick on the calf.

But, despite the injury, Walcott is expected to be on the bench for the Group B match against Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.

England's striking options are at a low, with Newcastle's Michael Owen still not match fit and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney still recovering from his metatarsal injury. This leaves Liverpool's Peter Crouch the only fit senior striker.

Eriksson will be forced to put Walcott on the bench against T&T, despite his fitness concern, and will be praying that his strikeforce aren't affected by any further injuries.

There could be some good news though, with bookmakers William Hill having closed the book on which match Wayne Rooney will be returning.

The book was closed due to there being a massive swathe of money going on the United striker returning for the match against T&T's Warriors on Thursday.

(Maybe they know something we don't!)
