Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper Shaka Hislop is gearing up for the most exciting two months of his career after he reached both the FA Cup final with West Ham United and with T&T's Warriors, the World Cup Finals.

The 37-year-old Warriors goalkeeper played a key role in West Ham’s cup semi-final win over Middlesbrough on Sunday, a win which ensured not only a place in the FA Cup final in Cardiff against Liverpool, but also a UEFA Cup place in Europe next season.

The veteran shot-stopper is likely to retain his place for the game at The Millennium Stadium on May 13, while also having the dream-like prospect of participating in the World Cup Finals.

“I'm now going to have the biggest and most exciting couple of months of my career,” said Shaka.

“I'm pinching myself to check it's all real.”

T & T have qualified for the World Cup for the first time in their history after narrowly missing out on qualification for Italia ’90 by failing in the play-off’s and Hislop is relishing the upcoming period, which he admits he never envisaged would happen.

“I've been involved in the professional game here for 14 years and now, at the age of 37, I'm going to the cup final and the World Cup in the space of three weeks!

“It's incredible. I've seen a few things in my time, but, just like buses, everything is coming along all at once. I'm going to enjoy it.”

Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors have been drawn in Group B in the World Cup Finals, alongside England, Sweden and Paraguay.
