Switzerland v Ukraine Match Preview: Arsenal's Senderos Out Injured, Hakan Yakin Starts For Swiss, Rebrov & Rusol Don't Start

Switzerland face Ukraine in their first knockout match in the World Cup Finals, with the winner set to meet Italy in the quarter-finals.

Switzerland earned the right to play Ukraine by finishing top of Group G, ahead of France, but head coach Köbi Kühn has had to make some changes to his team after suffering some injury set-backs.

Arsenal’s Philippe Senderos has been ruled-out after suffering an injury in the match against South Korea and will be replaced by his Arsenal team-mate Johan Djourou in defence.

Daniel Gygax starts on the bench after suffering a muscle strain, with Swiss legend Hakan Yakin holding onto his place in midfield.

For Ukraine Andriy Rusol and Vyacheslav Sviderskyi are ruled out for the match through injury, with former Spurs striker Serhiy Rebrov starting on the bench for Ukraine.

They are replaced by Andriy Gusin, Andriy Vorobey and Vladyslav Vashchuk.

Ukraine have recovered well from their opening defeat to Spain and confidence will be high following back-to-back wins against Saudi Arabia and Tunisia, but the Swiss are no slouches and have enough in attack to do major damage to the World Cup debutantes.
