Switzerland completed their World Cup preparations with a 4-1 win over China at the Hardturm Stadium, Zurich on Saturday.
Rennes striker Alex Frei and his strike partner, FC Koln’s Marco Streller scored two goals each. Frei opened the scoring with a close range effort after 40 minutes. One minute after the restart Streller doubled Switzerland’s lead with another close range shot that bounced off Chinese keeper Li Leilei, back on to Streller and into the net.
Switzerland were awarded a penalty two minutes later, and Frei stepped up to convert the spot kick. Streller completed the Swiss goal scoring when he rounded Li and netted in the 73rd minute.
China scored a consolation goal in the final minute when Dong Fangzhuo headed past Switzerland’s keeper Diego Benaglio.
