Switzerland 1 - 0 South Korea Half-Time - Arsenal's Senderos Heads Home To Give Swiss The LeadSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 23/06/2006 - 20:47.
Switzerland have taken a 1-0 lead into half-time against South Korea in their decisive World Cup Group G match in Hanover on Friday evening, with Arsenal’s Philippe Senderos heading a goal for the Swiss in the 23rd minute. Switzerland head coach Köbi Kühn made two changes to the side that started against Togo with Hakan Yakin and Christoph Spycher coming in for Ludovic Magnin and the injured Daniel Gygax. The game started off at a good pace, with both sides creating chances, but never really testing either keeper. The deadlock was broken by Philippe Senderos with a great header from an equally good cross from Hakan Yakin to make it 1-0 to Switzerland, with Senderos getting injured in the process. Alexander Frei had a great chance to double the lead minutes later, with Manchester United’s Park Ji Sung having an attempt at the other end as Korea pushed for an equaliser. Hakan Yakin had a couple of shots test the Korean keeper Lee Woon Jae as the first-half came to a close, with Kim Jin Kyu failing to latch on to a header and achance for Korea going begging with no-one to latch onto a loose ball that crossed in front of the Swiss goal. The game went into half-time with Switzerland in the lead, but with the half-time score 0-0 in the other match, both teams still going through. in favorites | email this page
