Sweden Coach Lars Lagerback Announces International Friendly Fixture Against Finland
The Swedish Football Federation announced today that Sweden will play two International Friendly matches, as part of it's preparation for the World Cup 2006 tournament, to be hosted in Germany next summer.
"We wanted to have an opponent who will take the game seriously," Sweden's coach Lars Lagerback said in a statement. The game will be played on the 25th of May, while another International Friendly fixture for Sweden, just days before the tournament kicks-off, is yet to be announced, as Reuters reports.
The Swedish Football Federation is trying to arrange the next International Friendly fixture in Sweden. Finland has already agreed for the game to be played in Sweden. Sweden's coach is trying to avoid long journeys for his players.
"This year we want to have both matches at home and avoid long journeys. It is good that we have got the Finland game sorted out and now we have to decide who will be the opponent for the other match," Lagerback said.
