Steve Staunton Names Five New Faces In Republic of Ireland Squad To Face Sweden In International Friendly At Lansdowne Rd.

Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton has named his squad to face Sweden in a friendly match at Lansdowne Road on March 1.

It is the first match in charge for former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland defender, who took over the role from Brian Kerr, after Kerr left the post after failing to qualify for the World Cup Finals.

Manchester City's Stephen Ireland has been called up for the Republic of Ireland's senior team for the first time, along with team-mate Richard Dunne.

Shay given will be looking to earn his 73rd cap for the Republic of Ireland.
