Coach Steve McClaren has expressed confidence that England will qualify for the Euro 2008 finals to be held in Austria and Switzerland, despite the Three Lions’ qualifying campaign being slipshod so far.

"My job is to qualify, to make sure that we are at Euro 2008...I am very confident we will get that," McClaren said after Saturday’s goalless draw against Israel at Tel Aviv.

After playing five matches each, England have eight points and are in the third place with Croatia leading Group E on 13 points; Russia are second on 11 points, while Israel have the same points as McClaren’s side but an inferior goal-difference.

With seven matches left for each of the teams, England would look to pocket three points against Andorra at Barcelona on Wednesday. Thereafter, they play away in Estonia in June, followed by a home match with Israel at Wembley in September.

England will take on Russia at home in September, followed by a home meeting against Estonia and then away to Russia in October. Their concluding match is at home against Croatia.

Meanwhile, Israel are at home against Estonia on Wednesday. Thereafter, Dror Kashtan’s men have away matches - against Macedonia in June, England in September, Croatia in October and Andorra in June.
