Steve Mc Claren Travelling To FA Headquarters To Be Named As England Coach
The FA are due to announce Steve McClaren as the new England head coach in the coming minutes. McClaren is currently travelling to The FA Headquarters in Soho Square to meet with Brian Barwick and announce the appointment.
McClaren will take over after the World Cup Finals when current boss Sven Goran Eriksson steps down.
Middlesbrough manager and England team coach Steve McClaren was the favourite to succeed Eriksson after Portugal head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari withdrew from the running after claiming that the media intrusion was too much.
Current England boss Eriksson said of McClaren to reporters on Wednesday: "He's extremely good. As a coach, perfect every time."
The Middlesbrough manager, who has guided the northeast club into next week's UEFA Cup final against Sevilla, has been a part of Eriksson's England set-up for several years.
The appointment of McClaren is due to be anounced at 4.30pm (BST).
