Spain’s La Furia Roja have drawn 0-0 with Russia in their World Cup warm-up friendly match on Saturday.

Spain started strongly, with Liverpool midfielder Luis Garcia and Valencia striker David Villa forcing Russia keeper Igor Akinfeyev into action, while Fernando Torres fired wide in the first-half.

Atlético Madrid striker Torres and Real Madrid star Raul also came close to opening the scoreline with headers in the second half, but the Russian’s who, from this July, are due to be coached by the current Australia and PSV Eindhoven coach Guus Hiidink in pursuit of their qualification for EURO ’08, defended well to keep a clean-sheet.

Spain head coach Luis Aragones will now be focusing on their next World Cup warm-up match, against Egypt on 3 June before completing their Cup preparations against fellow finalist’s Croatia on 7 June.
