Spain Captain Raul Confident Of Leading Spain To World Cup In Full-Fitness Despite Lack Of First-Team Action At Real Madrid
Spain captain Raul says that he is recovering well from injury, saying that, ideally, he would like more first-team action, but is confident of leading the 'Furia Roja' to the World Cup Finals in full-fitness.
The Real Madrid star has missed three months of the season with a knee injury and only returned to fitness in February. However, he has failed to nail down a regular starting place at the Bernabeu and has been used mainly as a substitute in recent matches.
Despite the lack of first-team action, Raul is confident that the work he is putting into training will stand him in good stead for the Finals in Germany.
Raul said: "I have to be realistic and make the most of the minutes I get. I feel good in training and during games.
"All I can do is try to arrive at the finals in the best condition I can, to lend a hand at the very least.
"I am pleased with my progress although it is obvious everyone would like to play more.
"The important thing to remember is that four months ago I suffered an injury and no one knew if I would be able to play another game this season."
