German-based Korean striker’s Cha Du-ri and Ahn Jung-hwan raised their chances of being named in Dick Advocaat’s South Korea national team at the World Cup Finals, both scoring in the German Bündesliga on Saturday.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s Cha Du-ri scored the opener against Borussia Dortmund, in Dortmund, firing-home in the 54th minute which earned a 1-1 draw.

The South Korea head coach Dick Advocaat was watching the match after travelling to Europe to check how some of the European-based Korean hopefuls are performing.

It was Cha’s third goal this season with his last goal coming against FC Cologne on October 22 last year.

Ahn Jung-hwan, who plays for MSV Duisburg, scored his second ever goal for his club against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday, after having scored his debut goal in his in the previous game against Werder Bremen on Thursday, finding his striking-form at just the right time.

The striker spot is up for contention as Lee Dong-gook was confirmed as going to miss the World Cup due to a knee injury he sustained during a K-League match last month.

Advocaat, who is set to announce his final 23-man national squad list on Thursday, will no doubt be impressed by their performances and either or both may have earned a last minute place.

The Korea Republic have been drawn in Group G alongside France, Switzerland and Togo.
