Guus Hiddink, who coaches both Australia and PSV Eindhoven, would be interested in succeeding Sven-Goran Eriksson as England boss, his agent has revealed, and the Dutchman is already among the favourites for gaining the post of England Coach after the World Cup Finals.

Hiddink, who has guided Australia’s Socceroos to the 2006 World Cup Finals, and Hiddink was Holland coach when the ‘Oreanje’ made the semi-finals in 1998, and then in 2002 he coached South Korea to the semi-finals when they co-hosted the tournament with Japan.

Hiddink’s agent Cees van Nieuwenhuizen has told BBC Radio Five Live: “There's been no contact, but he would definitely be interested in hearing from the FA.”

Hiddink has held some very high profile coaching jobs in the past, and Eriksson’s claims that it was the media intrusion that played a part in his decision to quit in the summer, hold no worries for Hiddink.

“He has been dealing with them, (the press), when he was with both Real Madrid and Valencia in Spain. He has also been dealing with it when he was in Turkey with Fenerbahce,” said Van Nieuwenhuizen.

“We don't live too far away from England, so we follow the media in England, and we know what's going on there, but that would definitely not be a reason for him to say 'no' beforehand.”

“Guus is receiving offers every now and then, and for him, money is definitely not the first reason to go into a job, if he was approached at all,” He added.

“The whole football environment in England, from a professional level, can be considered as the best in the world - maybe not the way they play football every now and then - but the exposure of English football all over the world is a big thing.”

“He is a great team builder, he is proven, especially at PSV in the last couple of years when he lost a lot of players, Lee Young-Pyo to England, Park Ji-Sung and then this season he lost five players again.”

“He seems able to build a team in a relatively short time because now they are leading the Dutch league again and are in the Champions League with a relatively new team.”

Van Nieuwenhuizen also revealed that PSV Eindhoven are planning to offer their Guus Hiddink a new contract when he returns to his job on a full-time basis after coaching Australia in Germany’s World Cup Finals.

“Yes, they want to talk about it, they mentioned it just before the end of the year that they want to talk about the future of Guus at PSV. They definitely want to renew the contract.”
