Serbia-Montenegro centre-back Nemanja Vidic has been ruled-out of the World Cup because of a serious knee injury.

Vidic, who plays for Manchester United, is considered by many to be the team's biggest star and is part of the Serbia and Montenegro’s “Famous Four” defence, which conceded only a single goal during their qualifying for the 2006 World Cup.

Vidic damaged his left-knee ligaments when he slid during team practice on Monday and has since been ruled-out of the World Cup Finals altogether.
