Scotland face Japan in their opening Group F match in the Under-20 World Cup Finals 2007, Canada on Sunday at the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.

Both teams are at full strength for their clash, with no players suspended.

Celtic centre-half Scott Cuthbert has been awarded the captain's armband for the tournament and he is joined by Hibernian left footed striker Steven Fletcher - who scored nine times in nine qualifying matches for the Tartan Army - and is the main threat to Japan.

Experienced Japanese captain and centre back Yohei Fukumoto is a capable and talented defender, and alongside fellow defender Yohei Fukumoto will hope to quash any threat from the Scots.

There is more experience in Sanfrecce Hiroshima midfielder Yosuke Kashiwagi, fellow midfielders Tsukasa Umesaki who plays with Oita Trinita, and Albirex Niigata’s Atomu Tanaka, as well as Kashima Antlers defender Atsuto Uchida, who are all first-team regulars for their J.League clubs and could cause problems for the Scots.

European runners-up Scotland have been drawn in Group F, alongside Asia runners-up Japan, 2005 losing finalists Nigeria and Costa Rica.
