Scotland Thrash Bulgaria 5-1 In Kirin Cup Friendly - Rangers Duo Score Two Each, Evertons McFadden On TargetSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Thu, 11/05/2006 - 13:03.
Scotland have beaten Bulgaria 5-1 in Kobe, Japan on Thursday night in their international friendly Kirin Cup match. Rangers' Chris Boyd and Chris Burke both got on the score-sheet, with both Boyd and Burke scoring two goals each on their debut for the Tartan Army. Chris Boyd opened the scoreline in the 12th minute, with Bulgaria's Todarov levelling the score in the 25th minute. The Rangers man was out to impress on his debut and his determination paid off with his second goal three minutes before half-time. Everton's James McFadden came on in the second half to score himself with a lovely strike from an acute angle and then Scotland were rampant. Burke came on for Gary Teale halfway through the second-half and immediately made his presence felt with one of the most beautifully crafted Scotland goals for many years. Scotland put together a string of over 20 passes before the ball was crossed perfectly to Burke, who chested the ball down and superbly lobbed the Bulgarian keeper with a delicate volley. McFadden set-up Burke's second, and Scotland's fifth goal, crossing the ball across the goalmouth for the Rangers man to poke the ball in from close range a minute from time for a spectacular win for Walter Smiths team. in favorites | email this page
