Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has named his squad to play Saudi Arabia in a friendly in Dusseldorf, Germany, on March 1. Ricardo Quaresma has been called into the squad, in which the winger is hoping to advance his World Cup claims.

The 22-year-old FC Porto player has featured regularly at under-21 level where his pace, dribbling skills and sheer power have brought comparisons with Manchester United's young superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Quaresma has made three appearances for Portugal as a substitute, with his selection in the squad keeping Fulham's Luis Boa Morte out of the 18-man squad to play Saudi Arabia in Dusseldorf on March 1.

“He has been playing reasonably well,” said Scolari said on Thursday. “His call-up offers me another chance to complete my final list of players.

“I've already chosen 80-90 percent of my (World Cup) players, but anyone can get injured so I'm not excluding anyone yet.”

Scolari has chosen fellow World Cup finalists Saudi Arabia because the Brazilian wanted to meet a team with a similar style to Iran, which is in Portugal's World Cup group.

Portugal have been drawn in Group D with Angola and Mexico as well as Iran.

Scolari will announce his squad for the World Cup Finals on May 15.
