Russia Beat Macedonia 3-0; Georgia Hold Ukraine To 1-1 Draw In Euro 2008 Qualifiers – Group E & Group B Heading For Tight Finish
Russia have beaten Macedonia 3-0 in the Euro 2008 qualifier to take the lead in Group E in Moscow on Saturday.
V Berezutski (8), Arshavin (84) and Kerzhakov (88) were the goal-scorers for Guus Hiddink’s side.
In a Group B match, Georgia held Ukraine to a 1-1 draw at home. Dimitri Tatanashvili scored the equaliser in the 89th minute after Oleg Shelayev had given the visitors the lead in the 9th minute.
These results have made both groups more interesting. Russia now have 18 points from eight games. England (14) and Israel (17) are currently in action at Wembley. Croatia (17) are in action against Estonia (3) later today at home.
Ukraine have taken their points tally to 13 in seven games and are placed fourth. Scotland, who won earlier today against Lithuania, are on 18 points but leaders France (18) and Italy (16) are in action later tonight.
