Roma Beat Lazio To Break Serie A Record - Team Dedicate Win To Injured Giallorossi Captain Francesco Totti
Francesco Totti’s Roma have broken the all-time Serie A winning record by beating their major rivals Lazio 2-0 in the Rome derby to achieve a record eleven consecutive wins in the league.
The Roma team, without star-striker Francesco Totti who broke his leg last weekend during Roma’s Serie A match against Empoli, dedicated this win to their talismanic captain Totti, who watched the match from the sidelines at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
Goals from Rodrigo Taddei in the first half, and Alberto Aquilani in the second half sealed the win for the Giallorossi in their 157th meeting with Lazio.
Totti is desperately hoping to return to fitness in time to represent the Azzurri at the World Cup Finals in June, and judging by his ecstatic celebrations after the win over their old foes, he already seems to be on the way to recovery.
