Role in Central Midfield Awaits David Beckham At Los Angeles Galaxy – Coach Frank Yallop Happy Beckham in Real Madrid TeamSubmitted by Niraj Prabhu on Fri, 16/02/2007 - 19:41.
Los Angeles Galaxy coach Frank Yallop has revealed he is looking to play the Major League Soccer-bound Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham in the central midfield in a 4-3-3 formation. "I would probably think we'll play a 4-3-3, I would see him in the middle of the field for us," said Frank Yallop. "We'll have a chat when he gets over and figure out what the best position is but I see him getting on the ball as much as he can from the centre of the park and distributing from that area. " Then England captain, Beckham played a similar role in matches against Wales and Northern Ireland in late 2005, but otherwise the 31-year-old former Manchester United star has been a predominantly a right-sided midfielder. "But I'm not too worried about it at this stage. Wherever a player like David is on the field, he can contribute," Yallop added. Yallop is also relieved to see Beckham back in action for Real after coach Fabio Capello shed his high-headed stance. After making a scoring return against Real Sociedad, Beckham is retained in the team for the Real Betis match on Saturday. "It's good because we were a little bit worried he wasn't going to play for five or six months by the time he got here, so it is nice to see him back in the team," the former Ipswich Town player said. in favorites | email this page
