Republic of Ireland and Chelsea winger Damien Duff looks set to become a Tottenham Hotspur player within the next 24 hours.

According to reports from BBC Sport, Duff underwent a medical with Spurs on Sunday, with the move to White Hart Lane looking highly likely to be Tottenham's fourth major signing of the close-season, with Dimitar Berbatov, Didier Zokora and Benoit Assou-Ekotto all joining the North London club.

Duff moved to Chelsea from Blackburn for £17million (€24million) in 2003, and still has a year left on his contract with the Premiership champions, but with the transfer of Germany captain Michael Ballack, Duff’s place in the first-team is severely under threat.

Duff has won two Premiership titles at Chelsea but has struggled to hold down a regular slot in the starting line-up.

Despite the speculation, Duff reported back for pre-season training with the other players that didn’t feature in the World Cup Finals on Monday at Chelsea’s Cobham training-base, being joined in the training session by Chelsea’s new signings Salomon Kalou and Hilario.

Apart from Damien Duff, other likely players to be leaving Stamford Bridge - Carlo Cudicini, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Geremi and Lassana Diarra - were all also involved in the training session on Monday.
