Reports are linking Liverpool and Everton with a trio of Italian Serie A side Parma's top players, with two Australian midfielders being eyed by Everton.

Latest reports from Italy are suggesting that the Merseyside rivals are both monitoring players from Italian Serie A side Parma, with Everton after a duo of Australia midfielders and Liverpool looking to secure a new defender.

With Rafa Benitez hoping to bring in a new central defender in the summer, the name of Daniele Bonera has yet again resurfaced.

At the start of the 2005/06 campaign 24-year-old Bonera was the subject of an approach from the current European champions but a deal failed to materialise.

Liverpool were again linked with a £4.2 million (€6 m) move for the defender in January and the now it seems that a close-season bid could be forthcoming.

Everton too are likely to be busy in the summer and the latest reports from Italy are linking them with Australian midfielders Vincenzo Grella and Mark Bresciano.

26-year-old Bresciano joined Empoli in 1999, from which he joined Parma in the summer of 2002 for around €7 million. In 2003/2004, Bresciano scored the most goals of any midfielder in the Italian Serie A.

Melbourne-born Vincenzo ‘Vince’ Grella, also 26, also played at with Bresciano at Empoli, moving to Parma in 2004.

The two players are both expected to be included in Australia boss Guus Hiddink’s Socceroos squad for the World Cup Finals in Germany.

It is believed both players are currently being monitored closely by Everton, with their manager David Moyes still undecided as to whether to lodge a firm offer.
