Japanese first division Club Kashima Antlers confirm offer was made from the former European Champions Red Star Belgrade. The Serbian team is looking for more offensive solutions in order to secure this season's League title.

Kashima's spokesman referred journalists to the player to answer. "First we want to know what Suzuki wants to do in order to set the direction of this matter. It has to be a full transfer deal if we allow him to move," Kashima spokesman said to Japanese media.

The 29-years-old has 55 caps with Japan's national football team. He had an impressive performance during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan and is one of the favourites for the World Cup Finals starting line-up.

Takayuki Suzuki needs a team participating in a more competitive league, so he can stay fit and secure a call-up from Japan's Coach Zico for the World Cup Squad.

Red Star Belgrade want to win as many games as possible in the Serbian League, in order to secure their ticket to European tournaments.

This was one of the reasons they recently rejected West Ham's 7 million pounds (approx. 11 million euros) for Serbia and Montenegro international Nicola Zigic.

Suzuki is facing stiff competition from team-mates for the Japanese World Cup Finals Squad, as Japan are in Brazil's Group F, which also includes Australia and Croatia.
