Real Madrid Star Zinedine Zidane Says France Need To Rejevenate Sprit of '98 & 2000
France midfielder Zinedine Zidane says that Les Bleus will need to rejuvenate the team spirit of ’98 and 2000 if they are to have any success at the World Cup Finals in Germany.
The veteran Real Madrid star said in an interview with Real Madrid TV: “We have good players but we lack the virtues of previous sides when we were a united group, all pulling in the same direction. It is coming little by little.”
Zidane captained the World Cup winning side of 1998 and the European Championships in 2000, where they dominated, but things have gradually gone downhill.
A group-stage exit in the 2002 World Cup Finals in Japan and South Korea, and their dismal showing at the 2004 European Championships in Portugal have left Zidane unsure of the capability of the team, even though the team is in no-way short of talent.
“We could do something special, but you have to remember we went out of the last two big tournaments without doing anything,” added Zidane.
