Real Madrid's La Liga title hopes received a massive blow during their final game of the season when Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy suffered a suspected hamstring injury in their match against Real Mallorca on Sunday evening.

The 30-year-old former PSV Eindhoven and Manchester United star suffered what seems to be a hamstring injury after a slight collision with a Mallorca defender on the half-hour mark, with Real Madrid trailing 1-0 in a must-win match for Fabio Capello's team.

The goal for Real Mallorca came in the 17th minute after a lovely move from the home team, with Varela tucking the ball past Igor Casillas in the Real Madrid goal to make it 1-0.

Real Madrid, Barcelona and Seville all still have the chance to win the title, with Real Madrid and Barcelona both on 73 points, and Seville on 71 points, but with Real Madrid sure in the knowledge that a win will see them grab the title from Barca on head-to-head meetings between the two teams.

At half-time, Barcelona are currently leading the La Liga table, as they lead relegated Gimnastic 3-0 - with Puyol, Messi and Ronaldinho scoring for Barça in the first-half - Seville are drawing 0-0 with Villareal and Real Madrid are still losing by one goal to nil.
