Real Madrid Coach Fabio Capello Will Be Happy If David Beckham Stays – Real Keen To Snatch Beckham Out Of LA Galaxy ContractSubmitted by Niraj Prabhu on Mon, 11/06/2007 - 15:09.
Real Madrid are considering to take help of a reported escape clause in David Beckham’s contract at LA Galaxy to keep the England star at the El Santiago Bernabeu. The 32-year-old midfielder has come back sensationally to play an important role for Fabio Capello’s side, which is now one game from the Spanish title. They need to win against Real Mallorca at home this weekend to win their first title in four years which also will be first in Beckham’s career at Madrid. Earlier in January, Capello had banished Beckham following his disclosure that he will play in the Major League Soccer next season. But ever since, he returned to action, he has played stunningly to take Real to a position they are in and many feel he has helped save Capello’s job. Real president Ramon Calderon is reportedly hoping to bring Beckham out of his contract with Galaxy. Spanish newspaper AS quoted Capello as saying: "Beckham would be a very important player for Madrid, there’s no doubt about that. If the club tells me that Beckham is staying, I would be very happy.” The Italian continued: "We have all made mistakes regarding Beckham's issue. "On the sporting side we have made a decision and I am the one that has the maximum responsibility. The truth is that with him (Beckham) we made a mistake. Beckham is a great player. “Now he is playing at the same level as he did at Manchester (United). He is a player that has recovered his physical and psychological condition because he was upset not to be playing with his national team. "For every player, the national team is important and for English players, more so." in favorites | email this page
