Real Madrid midfielder David Beckham is stunned by coach Fabio Capello’s revelation on Saturday that the former England captain will not feature any more in his plans for the La Liga giants this season.

The 31-year-old Beckham, who will join MLS side LA Galaxy after his contarct at Madrid ends in June, had while announcing his decision of the Los Angeles move on Thursday said that he would till then be fully committed to Real.

Beckham’s spokesman Simon Oliveira said: "David is surprised at the quotes from Fabio Capello and nobody from the club has informed him of their intentions. He will continue to give his full commitment and professionalism to the club in the remainder of the season."

Earlier today, Capello did not pick Beckham in Real’s 18-man squad for Sunday's match against Real Zaragoza.

"The decision of the player is to go to Los Angeles," Capello said. "He is a great professional, but he has such an important contract with another club, and therefore he will train with us but he is not going to play."

Italian Capello, who came to Real after his former side Juventus were demoted to Serie B for their alleged role in match-fixing scandal at the beginning of the season, said: Beckham will have to decide what to do until the end of the season."

Today’s development will alert clubs interested in offering a loan deal for the highly marketable sports personality in the world. In fact, LA Galaxy will also look to rope in Beckham from the start of football season – in April - in the States.

Beckham, who had been a first-choice player for much of his Real career since joining from Manchester United in 2003. had a disappointing 2006-07 season losing his place in the England side under Steve McClaren and then slipping out of Real’s first eleven under Capello.

Capello, however, praised Beckham for his professionalism. "I have never had the smallest problem with Beckham," he said. "I believe one cannot have the same desire when you have another team. But I repeat, he is a great professional. Now he needs to maintain a good physical condition, but we cannot count on him."
