Fabio Capello’s Real Madrid undergoing transition with the big names tumbling out to herald the end of Galacticos recruitment policy, suffered a jolt on Monday, when it was revealed that their captain Raul Gonzalez will be out for three weeks following a right calf injury.
Real’s Spain international striker is however hoping to be fit in time for their Champions League first round knock-out clash with FC Bayern München next month, reported uefa.com.
Bayern will play at Santiago Bernabeu in the first leg on February 20.
The leading goal-scorer in the Champions League history, Raul, 29, was taken off 15 minutes into Sunday's 1-0 victory against Real Zaragoza due to a pulled muscle and substituted by 22-year-old Brazilian attacker Robinho.
Tests on Monday confirmed that the product of Madrid clan, would be out for three weeks. New signing left-back Marcelo, veterans Roberto Carlos and Emerson are also out injured.
Raul had last week silenced talks about his speculated link with Liverpool, saying he is content at Madrid.
Meanwhile, the last-remaining Galactico Ronaldo is being linked with arch-rivals Barcelona.
