Ghana's Football Federation submitted yesterday the final roster for the Black Stars African Cup of Nations Squad. Michael Essien was left out of the Squad and further challenges with Chelsea FC's Coach Jose Mourinho were avoided.

Ghana delayed the announcement of its Squad for the African Cup of Nations, anxiously waiting news from Michael Essien's injury. They submitted the Squad on Friday, which was the final deadline.

The African Confederation of Federations (CAF) fined Ghana's Football Federation with 3,000 US Dollars for missing Tuesday's deadline. The CAF had also warned Ghana that failure to provide the full squad by Friday the 14th would find the Ghana Squad with three men less.

Michael Essien returned to Chelsea's training grounds earlier than anticipated, after receiving a very serious injury. Many said that he will be joining Ghana's African Cup of Nations Squad, however he will undergo personal training sessions until he has fully recovered from his injury.

Chelsea officials sent a letter to the Ghana Football Federation explaining that Essien will miss action for at least 4 weeks, making it impossible for him to make it to the African Cup of Nations.
