Chelsea's Israeli international striker Ben Sahar - who is currently on-loan with Queens Park Rangers - is expected to miss Israel’s Euro 2008 qualifying match against England on September 8 after undergoing an operation.

The 18-year-old Blues striker, who is on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers until January, has had to undergo an appendix operation.

Sahar missed Queens Park Rangers' opening match, a 2-2 draw away to Bristol City and will now face up to five weeks on the sidelines.

QPR manager John Gregory said: "It is a blow, but Ben's health is the most important thing.

"He has lots of matches and a great future ahead of him, and I am looking forward to welcoming him back to the training ground in the near future."

The highly rated striker, who joined the Blues from Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2006, had played at home against Steve McClaren’s side in March.
