Portugal & Man Utd's Cristiano Ronaldo Wants Move To Barcelona Or Real Madrid - Winger Feels Let-Down By FergusonSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Mon, 10/07/2006 - 14:31.
Manchester United and Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo has announced that he is set for a move to Spain to join either Real Madrid or Barcelona after saying that he wants to leave The Premiership. The 21-year-old Portugal star, who has been heavily criticized for his role in the sending-off of Wayne Rooney in England's quarter-final defeat to Portugal, has decided that he no longer wants to be a Manchester United player. Ronaldo, who was consistently booed during Portugal’s semi-final match against France, said he is disappointed in the support he has received from his club, namely from his manager Sir Alex Ferguson and chief executive David Gill. “For some time I haven't had any support from my chief executive or my coach. They should have come out in my defence but no-one did. “I am calm, I know I have done a good job and I’ve grown a lot in this World Cup, from a physical point of view and a mental one. In the next few seasons I will be even better.” Ronaldo, who has been labelled a diver by many football fans and pundits alike, will find it very hard to continue playing in The Premiership after his role in Rooney’s sending-off, so looks certain to either leave Man Utd, or face being left on the bench by Ferguson. Ronaldo would be welcome at Real Madrid according to Real’s new manager, former Juventus boss Fabio Capello, but an offer has yet to be tabled. The club's president, Ramón Calderón, who was voted in last week, has said that he also aims to bring-in certain target signings from Premiership clubs, with AC Milan’s Kaka, Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas and Chelsea’s Arjen Robben major targets, with also the possibility of signing Manchester United’s Ruud van Nistelrooy. in favorites | email this page
