Portsmouth's manager Harry Redknapp confirmed today that he is interested in making an offer for Arsenal's defender Sol Campbell, provided that the Gunners agree to releasing the player, while Turkish Club Fenerbahce are said to have submitted an offer to Arsenal.

"It's difficult, he belongs to Arsenal but I like Sol. He would be a leader and would give the club a push forward," Redknapp said in an interview with SkySports.

"He's a player with stature and a terrific understanding of the game. He would be an ideal player for Portsmouth but I don't know what Arsenal's plans are for him."

"I see in the newspapers there is a possibility he may be leaving and if he was to leave he would be a player that would interest us... But we haven't really gone down that road, we haven't enquired to Arsenal about him," Portsmouth's manager said.

Sol Campbell is currently part of the England World Cup squad and he is unlikely to agree before England's World Cup matches are played.
