Porto's Gonzalez to Replace Inter's Cambiasso in Argentina's Line-Up Against Serbia & Montenegro
Jose Pekerman, Albicelestes' head coach will replace Inter's Esteban Cambiasso with FC Porto's Luis Gonzalez in Argentina's World Cup group C match against Serbia & Montenegro, while Barcelona's Lionnel Messi might play as a substitute.
"The idea is to have the circulation that will allow us to continue getting up (to the opponent's box)," said Pekerman, acknowledging the fact that Serbia and Montenegro have tall players who can cause damage in the Argentinian defence.
Asked about whether this change in the team was intended so that Riquelme can have more free space in the midfield, the Argentina coach said that during the match against the Ivory Coast, Riquelme had the task of guarding Zokora who was dangerous.
"It's not exclusively for Roman. It's important we have equilibrium in all sectors... It's not about giving Roman more liberty," Pekerman said.
"Argentina are ready to play a great match whatever way Serbia play. Not only do they have Kezman up front, there's also Milosevic and Zigic, whose height can be a deciding factor."
